xDetect / legacy CF3000 / DF6000: practical field notes for testing, disablements, logic and restoration. Menu wording can vary by firmware and site configuration.
Before changing a live system: agree the test/disablement with the responsible person, identify any ARC/fire-routing connection and plant interfaces, decide what must remain operational, record every temporary change, and restore/verify everything before leaving.
EATON
xDetect / legacy CF3000 / DF6000
xDetect is Eatonβs current modular platform; CF3000/DF6000 remain a large legacy installed base and their engineering menus differ.
Protocol / ecosystemEaton addressable
One-man / walk test
- Legacy CF/DF: use One Man Walk Test for repeated device testing without returning to reset after each activation.
- xDetect: use the current test/commissioning functions from the trained-engineer workflow and verify the chosen area/output scope.
- For either family, manage monitoring-centre and plant interfaces before test and verify their restoration afterwards.
Disable / enable
- xDetect provides touchscreen device disable/enable workflows; Eaton also publishes a short official how-to video.
- Legacy CF/DF panels allow outputs to be globally disabled for engineering tests; verify and restore this explicitly.
- Use View Disabled/active-disablement functions to prove the system is returned to service.
Cause & effect / groups
- xDetectWorks provides matrix-based cause/effect programming, groups and Type IDs for trained engineers.
- Legacy CF3000 offers detailed cause/effect but is being phased out; preserve legacy configuration files during migration work.
- Document software/version and network topology before programming changes.
Engineer notes
- CF3000 ordering ended after 2025 and Eaton positions xDetect as its successor; legacy support has a defined wind-down.
- xDetect supports up to 200 addresses per loop and higher loop current than the older CF family.
- Do not use CF3000 menu assumptions on xDetect.
