Fike Engineer Guide

TwinflexProยฒ / CIE-A family: practical field notes for testing, disablements, logic and restoration. Menu wording can vary by firmware and site configuration.

Before changing a live system: agree the test/disablement with the responsible person, identify any ARC/fire-routing connection and plant interfaces, decide what must remain operational, record every temporary change, and restore/verify everything before leaving.

TwinflexProยฒ / CIE-A family

TwinflexProยฒ is a two-wire multipoint system frequently encountered on smaller sites. Its testing and disablement behaviour differs from analogue addressable panels.

Protocol / ecosystemTwinflex two-wire / Fike addressable systems

One-man / walk test

  1. Enter the authorised supervisor/engineer menu โ†’ Test Modes โ†’ System Test or the required zone test.
  2. System Test acts as a simple one-man test: triggering a device operates the relevant indication and assigned sounders for a short period before reset.
  3. Check programmed delays: a long output delay may mean an output never operates during the short test event.
  4. Exit test mode and reset/verify normal condition.

Disable / enable

  1. Enable/Disable includes remote fire, all sounders, delays and zones on applicable TwinflexProยฒ versions.
  2. A zone disablement affects detection inputs; understand how MCP/device sounder behaviour is treated on the installed version.
  3. Restore every global output/routing disablement before leaving.

Cause & effect / groups

  1. Twinflex systems can have device/zone programming and panel I/O functions, but they are not equivalent to a large addressable cause/effect matrix.
  2. For CIE-A addressable products, use the specific current engineering documentation rather than Twinflex sequences.

Engineer notes

  1. TwinflexProยฒ supports enhanced test modes and up to 32 devices per zone in Fike product information.
  2. Treat the whole system as two-wire intelligent conventional architecture when fault finding.
  3. Confirm device type and zone because multiple functions may share the same pair.
